Before I started Blogging I
use to admire how luxurious and effortless everything looked in a bloggers
life, however the reality of blogging is 24-hour work and isn't always as
pretty as it seems. Blogging is quite often overlooked as 'hard work' by a lot of people.
But trust me there’s more to it than just snapping a few pretty pictures of
your favorite shoes. Blogging is something I do because I love every aspect of
it and have committed an awfully large amount of my time towards it and hope do it full time in the long run; however, I
thought I would note a few things that other bloggers will totally relate to
and a peek into the truth for anyone thinking of starting a blog.
1. As A blogger you never
'switch off', you need to be pretty loyal to ‘the gram’ as your blog and
Instagram go hand it hand. I will often go to sleep planning what pictures I
have for the next day. If I've not prepared I’m probably going to be setting
my alarm a bit earlier to give myself any extra time for last minute editing
that morning, or whether I need to schedule time for a quick OOTD snap before work.
2. The world is your content;
What ever I'm up to each day I will ALWAYS be looking for a photo opportunity.
Pretty flowers? SNAP! Coffee break? SNAP! ‘Aw that house is cute’ SNAP! Us
bloggers often see things through our cameras before our eyes because having a
constant flow of content and keeping your audience connected is key.
3.The shame of asking
anyone and everyone to take a picture of your OOTD. Uber driver? Mum? Friend? Post man? random person in the street? sometimes you've just gotta make
do!
4. Shoot days, It’s a given that you are probably going
to be without changing rooms where ever you decide to shoot so you need to forget all dignity when it comes to
getting changed in the back of a car, behind a wall or in public toilets
(The not so glamorous truth!) The amount of
strange looks I've had parading up and down the same street in 5 different
outfits is crazy, But its all good fun!
5.Things can get pretty
expensive, pretty quickly. Blog templates, photographers, domain names, Camera equipment,
clothes and travel money do not come cheep. It all adds up, you need to
really want it to start putting this kind of money into your own brand, the
majority of my wages go to my blog and I will often pick blogging over going on
nights out and other money spending occasions.
6.Working with brands, us
bloggers are very lucky to have the opportunity to work with some of the most
amazing brands and be given some of the best opportunities. There is no hiding
that we do get products sent to us free of charge, However we don't just get sent things for
fun, a collaboration is a client and is work, this is when you need to create
the best content possible within your given time scale. (You've never felt
stress like it until you've been shooting a product all day and then your
memory card corrupts loosing all of your hard work!)
Without my blog I would’ve
never had the chance to become a brand ambassador for boohoo and I feel so
grateful to be working with, and creating content for such an amazing brand.
Man this is so true! I have to always force my boyfriend to take my pictures and he htes me for it. I love this post!
